What is the best area in Nashville to stay for a weekend trip?

I am going to Nashville for a weekend in August and plan to see a Nashville Sounds baseball game one night and go to the Grand Ole Opry the next night. Would also like to see whatever sights, etc there are to see. I'm not sure what area I should look for a hotel in. I don't want a really expensive hotel and I need somewhere with parking available. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank You!
