When a new restaurant gets aproved by they health department, do they come back after the restaurant opens?

I have a new restaurant opening soon and we jus recently had the health department come to inspect our restaurant for approval. We passed, that was good. I was told that by some people that sometimes the health department comes back when the restaurant opens to do a check to see if we did any changes to our kitchen. Has anyone ever experience something like that?

  1. Yes. There will be visits during the entire period you are in business. Most health departments give demerits for dirty equipment and food items not off the floor to the elevation they would like. It is a bureaucratic activity developed for, by and of bureaucrats. Just pretend to be pleasant about the interruptions.
  2. Yeah. they will come periodically and check out the kitchen and dining area for cleanliness, and to ensure that you are safely preparing food. they will check you all the time, and in Texas, you have to keep the most current report posted for the public to see.
