Is the United States contempt for the United Nations the biggest scandal of all? The USA Government continues to be contemptuous of the United Nations thus undermining the credibility and influence of the UN. But the US has over all too many years failed to support the UN financially to the extent that it could and should. The scandal is that America is frighteningly willing to spend billions of dollars on war, but unwilling to spend a fraction of that on peace. The UN gives peace a chance - but the US prefers the sword and treats the UN with contempt. How sad and contemptible is this?
How did the United States become part of the United Nations? Did the president sign and the Senate support it with a two-thirds vote? I would really like some references. I've searched the web and can't find a site that explains how the United States joined the United Nations. I'm wondering if it's true that the United Nations charter overrides the Constitution.
How much money do countries contribute to the United Nations? Hi, I'm currently in the process of writing a position paper for model United Nations. Could someone please give me a link to a website where I could find out what percentage of the U.N.'s money comes from which country, I don't know where to look, but I know it exists.

Should the United Nations organize an armed intervention in Zimbabwe? Considering that Robert Mugabe is the root cause of Zimbabwe's crisis and that millions in aid money from foreign nations have been embezzled, should the United Nations invade? It seems like a waste to keep giving money to Zimbabwe -- in addition, what's going on there is also harming neighboring countries who do not have the sources or support to invade. What do you think?
Where can I find easy to understand information on the United Nations? I'm doing a report for school on the United Nations, and it's difficult to find information that is easily understood. Links to useful sites with good, simple and to the point information would be appreciated. What changes would you like to see in the United Nations? I just read that French President Nicolas Sarkozy has demanded that the United Nations be reformed, saying "The UN is absolutely indispensable and yet at the same time, it’s not working." President Obama, though, has been reluctant to press for reform. Is the United Nations essential, and if so, should it be reformed? What are your suggestions?

Why is the United Nations accusing Israel of war crimes? Do you think that Israel's attacks on United Nations buildings in Gaza, that caused the death of many innocent Palestinians, including many children, is the reason for the United Nation's claim that Israel committed war crimes? Thanks for your answer.
Is the Model United Nations a good organization to join? I'm a freshman in high school, and I feel like I should join more clubs/organizations. Would the Model United Nations be a good one? I would like to work as an interpreter/translator for the United Nations. Where should I start? I have a bachelor degree in International Relations studies. I love learning foreign languages. I have been doing translation/interpretation from Indonesian (my mother tongue) to English. I also have experiences as rapporteur in seminars/workshops as well. I have never attended a formal interpretation training school, however. Can anybody suggest me where to start if I would like to have a career in translation/interpretation, or document checking in international organizations, or maybe in United Nations itself? Thank you.
Should the United States and the United Nations work for good newhospitals and medical care in conflict zones? Would this be a good, just and universally welcomed way to help rebuild good will for America and for the United Nations and really help suffering people? I think they would be especially needed and welcomed in Iraq and Afganistan but also in all nations suffering from war, hospitals are needed in peacetime as well, but especially in times of war So they should be some of the first things built in reconstruction efforts right? I'm thinking that hospitals should be located where they would be close enough to help the greatest number of wounded people, especially civilians, but far enough away to keep them from being directly in the line of fire. I really think this is truly the right thing to do, but I'd like to hear any reasons it isn't, thanks. It's not about helping George Bush, it's about helping sick and injured casualties of war, and seeing as how there was no war until we got there I feel like the United States owes it to the Iraqi and Afgani people to help those injured from it. To not help the injured out of spite for Bush is really petty and crappy if you ask me. There's women and Children who need help and we have the resources to help them, we've spent so much money supposedly rebuilding the place why not actually spend some of it well? But I seriously doubt the efforts currently underway are of a scope large enough to really tackle the problem and I've seen a documentary about how people aren't getting treatment for wounds and diseases. I think that getting healthcare to almost everywhere in the world is something that's physically possible, and would be and is one good thing about devolpment. Seems like one of those rare true progress's without doing anything it isn't supposed to, or having unintended and negative side effects.
Is the United Nations really any different than the League of Nations? the first time people experimented on international organization, they got the league of nations which was initially successful with many peace settlements and several humanitarian organizations. however, it failed to stop an ax-crazy, hungry for vengeance and war Germany and also the imperialist Japan and was subsequently dissolved. Will the same thing happen to the united nations? sure that they were initially successful with small peace settlements, humanitarian org, and what have you. But when a big power suddenly decided to declare war can the UN really do anything about it. Or will it just be another failed experiment like the league of nations before them?
How many lanes are in front of the United Nations Building in NYC? I want to know how many lanes of traffic there are in front of the United Nations Building in New York City. I have a photo with the building and the flags, but can't tell exactly how many lanes of traffic there are. I need accurate information for a book I am writing. Thank you!
What would be the reaction of the United Nations to this speech? Please don't report it again. To the General Assembly of the United Nations and the people of Gaza. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have come before you today not only as a representative of the government of Israel, but also as a member of the human race who values peace above all else. Last year, the Israeli Defense Forces invaded Gaza under the pretense of halting the launching by Hamas of missiles into Israel. Although these missiles had been continuously launched at our country almost daily for the previous 8 years, this problem was not seriously addressed until last year. Did Israel make the right decision? Based upon the reaction of the world towards us in its aftermath, the indication would be that we did not. We have tried to rationalize the collateral damage incurred by the civilian population of Gaza as justified by using rhetoric such as “by any means necessary in the defense of Israel”. I would tend to agree if my country was in a declared state of war against another sovereign nation, but against an organization such as Hamas, which did not pose a serious threat to the population in a sparsely populated area of the country and posed absolutely no threat to the continued existence of the State of Israel, I would have to say that Operation Cast Lead was neither appropriate nor necessary. It is a humbling experience knowing that your decisions caused the deaths of so many innocent men, women, and children unnecessarily. Although I was not part of the government at the time of the Gaza incursion, I must also take responsibility since I could have been a voice of humane dissent, but I chose to stay quiet and allowed the carnage to continue day after day. I have come forward today to ask for your forgiveness. Forgiveness for myself and other members of the government of Israel whose callous disregard for human life least embodies the values of our State nor the values of the Jewish people as a whole. My heart becomes heavy when I think of the innocent lives lost due to our misguided efforts at waging war to bring upon peace. We should have realized that this strategy was doomed from the start, but we did not. Again, I ask for your forgiveness. Hatred and mistrust are contagious diseases that must be eradicated. Only through the purging of our hatred and mistrust for one another will there be any hope for peace in the future. We need to start today. Time is of the essence. I am willing to sit down with whomever makes the decisions on the other side whenever they choose and iron out our differences in a concrete and good faith manner once and for all. A state for the Palestinians is a foregone conclusion and the longer it takes to finalize such, the more the killing and animosity that will continue. There is no alternative but to recognize each other as part of the human race and to end the bloodshed on both sides. If we can end the schism caused by the hatred and mistrust that exists between us, the end of this conflict will soon follow. Benjamin Netanyahu Prime Minister of the State of Israel Mark: Based upon the superficial questions that you have asked, your opinion is not credible. btw: I don't do drugs. Is it that alien to you to meet someone with a heart and conscience who values life? Chamor: I lived in Israel for 5 years all from the start of this Intifada and was a police officer in an anti-terrorist unit. I recommend that you watch this documentary and then get back to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWeiAmr_atA 10 parts. For those who think that I "have too much time on my hands", how long do you think it took me to write this? One half hour from start to finish.
What has the United Nations done for us, should we pull out? I know Obama wants the US to continue to be a member of the United Nations as we give millions of dollars every year to Muslim Nations, I think with all our financial problems that this money would be better spent in the US than in Muslim countries. We should bail out of the UN and sell the building, that would save us millions. We should also prosecute incompetent CEO's rather than give them millions in separation packages for destroying companies. Some thoughts?
How can United Nations be contacted about massacre against the Yazidi people? Just read in internet_since the major cable news channels have but ignored the news till now_that probably the Yazidis in Iraq will be completely destroyed at any moment, since most of the bombings which so far have killed more than 500, have been aimed almost entirely at them. Complete villages have been anhiliated as if by atomic bombs! Supposedly this was done using garbage trucks!!! The U.S. believes it's Al Queda's work. Kurds believe it is due to fight of control of area by Kurds and Arabs. And still, a third possibility is the avenging of death of local girl stoned to death by the Yazidis for her relation with an Arab and for becoming a Muslim. Whatever reason any insane mind had to do something so horrendous, someone has to intervene to stop this from happening again. Apparently everyone in the area is expecting more of this anhiliation to go on!!! What is role of the United Nations in Iraq? I've lost track as to what role UN may have, but someone has to do something fast

Are we on the brink of the United Nations ruling the world? Doing some searches on the internet news sites under "united nations" and "new world order", there is a shocking comments from world leaders pointing to a collaboration that nations are closer to giving up their sovereignty to support a new world order, or world government. What do you think about this? Do you support the thought of the United Nations basically being the King of the entire Earth?

How prestigious is an NGO to the United Nations in actuality? I understand there are only 7 or so NGOs with official status to the United Nations from India for example, and a limited number from each country. How prestigious is an NGO in actuality? Is it hard to become one, is the process detailed? is it generally considered a great mark for an institution? Does it mean they were doing pretty good?
What is your opinion on the United Nations? My opinion is The United Nations needs to get out of our Country. Did you know they want to control The Internet for the USA? Also, Nance Pelosi wants to pass a bill based on Global Warming. It will apply penalties to other Countries that don't apply. They will get fined and the taxes will go to the UN. Then the money will be disbursed to other Nations. UN needs to go!
Should the United States and other countries form a real United Nations? Obviously the United Nations isn't that productivity considering everything that still occurs on this planet. I think it would be a good idea to get rid of all these separate countries and just form a United Nations or perhaps a United Earth. The choice to join would be voluntary, but the countries that joined would be able to reap the benefits like open borders for example. We could also focus the world's money on more important issues besides war. I believe that worlds problem are most based on trust issues, if you have one nation that clearly takes away that problem. If you disagree let me know. Also would appreciate if anybody could list the advantages and disadvantages of ths plan.
